American Inventor Debuts
Last night, ABC premiered American Inventor…basically the geek counterpart to American Idol.
As a TV show, it’s your typical network schlock. And, like American Idol, a good part of the show is the producers finding the idiots among us and showcasing them on TV doing their most embarrassing behaviors. Entertaining for a bit, but not really engaging TV.
Still, I like the premise. The show, at its core, is about design, and that’s something new for network TV.
One of the judges is also particularly interesting: Doug Hall is the founder and CEO of the Eureka! Ranch which is an invention and research think tank. A designer at heart.
For those of you smart enough to not waste time watching network TV, Makezine is blogging the series.

I saw American Inventor and I give it mixed reviews. I thought they could have done alot better so I was a bit disappointed. Hoepfully, it gets better with the next show.
