Any SharePoint folks out there struggling with it from an IA/UI planning standpoint?
I know I am.
Seems as if most documentation out there is still focused more on DB/Server admin issues than general ‘how to design a usable portal using MOSS and the various templates and web parts that makes sense to content owners and site users’.
Anyone have any suggestions for documentation (online or off) that talk about implementing SharePoint from a more IA focused standpoint?
Anyone interested in getting together to form a SharePoint designer support group/sympathy gathering?

For the last four years, we’ve been running a course that is targeted specifically at designers of portals based on SharePoint. We spend a lot of time in the class on discussing best practices related to taxonomy, information architecture and governance.
Check out the syllabus here:

Thanks for the ad, Jeff. ;o)
Well, looks like no one is up for this. Not that I can blame anyone…who wants to ruin a get together by bringing up SharePoint? Good company never brings up politics, religion, or SharePoint.
Jeff, I could have written this post myself! I recently was put on a project to create a communication and user education plan for migrating our company from Sharepoint 2003 to 2007. I’m just in the beginning stages now so I’m kind of in the same boat as you, but I’ll be happy to share what I find. Let me know if you have found any good resources in the couple weeks since you posted this.
