Apps for the Mac
When I work from home, I have to deal with a large number of interruptions which makes time tracking rather difficult. So I’ve been experimenting with xTime Project. It’s a spiffy little app that works well and supposedly a major new release is due soon. Do you use software for time tracking? If so, which app do you use?
I recently learned of an SFTP app that is actually a joy to use. I come from a Windows background so when I “switched” (re-converted actually) to the Mac, I didn’t care much for Fetch and ended up using MacSFTP. The little app that I found is named Fugu. It’s handling of bookmarks is not initially intuitive but once you learn how they are implemented, it works really nice.
Finally, are there any decent financial apps for the Mac? I use Quicken 2004 and it is about as poorly designed as Notes. Unfortunately, Quicken 2005 looks like more of the same.

I’ve been using Panic’s Transmit for FTP as long as I can remember.
I concur on the financial app. Every now and again, I see what’s available for the Mac. I’ve stuck with Quicken - because I haven’t found a better solution. So far, every app I’ve tried out is (including Quicken) is a glorified checkbook register. That model is just not useful in getting a better handle on your finances. Yes, I have an alternative in list of projects.
oh - and on the time tracking side of things, I use Apple’s built in Stickies.
Transmit and Fugu are similar looking - I like the interface of Transmit better. The upshot of Fugu is that it is free. The main difference between the two is that Transmit is a client whereas Fugu is a front end and I don’t know if that really matters to us end users.
I’m liking the Stickies idea over xTime. Less muss, less fuss. KISS - our lives are already over-complicated.
cssedit, very nice simple css editor. IconBuilder, and candybar are very nice customization apps. I’m an advocate of Panic software. And with financial apps, agreed. No good programs,and my finaces are almost better left unmanaged than to use quicken.

Ha! I use it all the time for EVERYTHING as well.
