Helvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface (which is celebrating its 50th birthday this year)

The screening @ the Walker will include a Q&A with Gary Hustwit, the director.

Doesn’t look like this is on the Walker’s calendar yet. I’ll update this post with the time, when I hear.

Helvetica is now on the Walker Art Calendar, $8, 7pm.

So, you can see why I’m not impressed by the pissing match between Target and Disney.

Mr. Steinhafel – I completely agree, Disney is selling movies on iTunes for less than they’re charging you because – the digital versions are in-fact less valuable; lower quality, not pre-backed-up, hyper-touchy DRM, can’t wrap it up and stuff it in a Christmas stocking.

Maybe checking out the Minuteman movie – We Jam Econo – will help answer it.

Two ecodesign films. The first examines the work and vision of architect William McDonough and chemist Michael Braungart, using the stories of five projects which incorporate sustainable materials cycles (see The Next Industrial Revolution).

The second, Better by Design , using case studies and interviews, looks at 4 Minnesota companies to illustrate the use of eco-design as a key element of their business strategies. Panel discussion by working eco-design professionals and faculty follows film.
