April 1 Twin Cities UX Meetup, Topic: Usability Methods

Hello Twin Cities UX folks –
The next Twin Cities UX Meetup group will meet April 1 . The topic will be usability methods. As usual, a few local professionals will help jump-start the conversation (e.g. me). I’m also going to try and nab a few nationally-known locals to join us.
Here are [...]

Paper News

Some quickie news bits re: local paper-based content design:

The Pioneer Press has a new design. It’s narrower with a new headline typeface and a bigger crosswords puzzle. Definitely different, but doesn’t feel fully thought out. The comic page still sucks.
The Rake is done with its paper version. Bummer.

MinneWebCon

Awkward name. Cool logo. Affordable, local, interesting-looking web conference: http://www.minnewebcon.umn.edu/

Apple’s new marketing slogan: Touch it.

Well, that’s what it should be. I’ve been paying attention to the past year’s worth of new stuff from Apple, but most of it was met with a reaction by me of ‘Oh, that’s kind of neat’ but nothing really more than that. We had to go to the Apple Store last night at the [...]

Overworked?

From an Authentic Jobs posting (emphasis mine):
Job Perks:
Exposure to new technologies, creative liberty, 40 hour Monday-Friday workweek, low stress work environment, casual dress code, stability of a 62 year old company.

Yahoo Design No More?

It appears that Yahoo has axed their entire design innovation team (aka ‘yHaus’?). One assumes this is related to their battle to fend of Microsoft, but I have to wonder how this will help. Seems that if you’re up against Microsoft and Google, design innovation is perhaps your key asset.
What’s even sadder is that I [...]

Under construction!

I’ll spare you the man-at-work-animated-gif. Turns out our site’s wordpress theme was wearing out and just found out the site hasn’t been rendering properly in IE for a while. So, we’re back to plain jane for a bit while I get my butt in gear to roll-out the new MNteractive design soon!

‘Fixing’ the SharePoint Web Part ToolPane.

There are so many little things that will drive you nuts with SharePoint the more you use it. One of these things is the admin/edit interface. Traditionally, you have the front-end interface that the audience sees, and you log into an entirely different interface to edit the content. This seems to make sense to me, [...]

CHANGE OF DATE AND TIME for Feb. UX Meetup

Please note the NEW DATE AND LOCATION of the Feb. UX Meetup:
