One-Laptop-Per-Child Human Interface Guidelines

Note to self: Review OLPC Human Interface Guidelines “This UI is quite simply one of the deepest and most interesting redesigns of the desktop user interface ever produced. It makes MacOS look like what it is – boring and unoriginal.” – Mike Hearn

Comment If It’s Now Stuck In Your Head Too

“This site neither supports or endorses Hampsterdance.com. In fact just typing HampsterDance.com, in this authors viewpoint, should automatically have a person banned from internet usage for a year. How can that song even be in my head when I haven’t even heard it in a decade?” – Bill Bradbury

Image Tricks

I stumbled upon a nifty bit of freeware today: Image Tricks. It’s akin to a version of photoshop that only includes the filters menu. Perhaps more ‘fun’ than ‘useful’ but it’s still worth a download. (For OSX only). I haven’t been posting many useful utilities lately, feel free to suggest any you’ve come across!

Another Dreamweaver alternative

Yesterday I mentioned RapidWeaver, a HTML editor worth taking a look at. In the past, I’ve mentioned NVU, an open-sourced clone of DreamWeaver. While NVU is nice, it hasn’t been updated in well over a year and is still missing some niceties. Another new option I just ran across is aptana. Aptana is still in [...]

Random Mac links and some odds and ends…

My TiBook 667 finally has been upgraded to a shiny new MacBook. (If anyone is looking for a used TiBook with a few ‘issues’…let me know ;o) The MacBook is great, and has that nice built-in iSight camera. Fun! Alas, I can’t record any video on it. Why is that? Well, as usual, that feature [...]

Gliffy.com Moves Wireframing Online

In my ongoing quest for the right information architecture wireframing tool – I have to thank TechMeme.com for introducing me to Gliffy.com. Gliffy is a browser-based, Flash-drive diagramming tool, with the feel of a desktop app (i.e. fast and has both ‘File’ and ‘Edit’ menus). I spent a little time with it today and am [...]

PeopleAggregator – MySpace For the Other You?

I got a preview of the latest thing in ‘social network’ sites today, PeopleAggregator (here by ‘PA’). I’m not impressed. Though, as Steve Borsch points out – it is awe-inspiring. Everything and the kitchen sink is in there – blogs, people, groups, audio, video, photos, links, search engines, everything! Like MySpace, and Friendster before it, [...]

Flickr + Target = A Good, Right, and Easy Digital Print Experience

Up until a couple weeks ago, if we wanted prints of our digital photos we’d, well, hit ‘Print’. But, we’re moving and I packed up the printer when I packed up our offices. And we needed a couple dozen prints – quick. This was the slickest buy-online-pick-up-in-store experience I’ve had since last-minute Christmas shopping at [...]
