Feed Me or How to Guarantee Repeat Visitors to Your Website
Each morning with my freshly roasted coffee I scan approximately 120 weblogs for interesting developments. Now and again, one of those blogs will link to another blog, linking to a third. Both of which are new to me. Great – a little joy in the morning for finding something new.
The new found joy is dashed if the new blogs don’t offer an content feed (RSS, Atom, some sort of XML). For I know, without that, I’ll never return. I don’t have the time to remember what’s in my bookmarks and actively click each one regularly. NetNewsWire grabs all the new stuff for me automatically when it starts up. Allowing me to get the most recent posts of all 120 weblogs in seconds.
All the weblog engines I’m familiar with offer feeds out of the box and it’s standard at Typepad.
So why don’t some of the best blogs have feeds? Dave, can you help me out?
