can anyone help me, i bought a fp3 player but everytime i try to play a song it plays the first few notes then sticks. i am also having problems having my computer recognise the player when i plug it into the computer. i am so fed up with it

I just picked one of these up from Goodwill of all places for $4. Looking online, I realized I could add songs, and stumbled on the software problem. They may have changed their stance, but call FP, I was directed to a ‘well hidden’ link under their FAQ’s (http://download.service.mattel.com/us/technical/FP3_XP_Update_v1_1_0_9.exe) where I downloaded the software for free. The Service Center employee supplied me with a new code (also free). I am not planning on purchasing any of those crazy songs from the site, so problem solved there. Just one possibility.

This will work on Windows Vista 32 bit if you download the update, but is not compatible with Vista 64-bit at all. Go figure…that’s my OS. I bought a little cheap netbook and it doesn’t work either b/c the fp3 software only allows you to rip from CDs. This was a gift. I’m glad I didn’t waste my $ on it b/c it’s a poor design. Would be great if the software was better.

Ok – in a moment of desperation I called Mattel after nearly getting lost in the Phone Tree of Doom, I was connected to a kind guy names Omar who registered the product for us over the phone, we explained the entire situation (Given as a gift, but was purchased used) and asked him if I buy a new CD (available on their site for $1.50) will it come with a new serial number? He placed me on hold to find out – and after a brief moment he was back and told we that they are not in the habit of doing this, but that he explained asked his supervisor and the case was approved!

He then gave me a new serial number over the phone and told me that he would be emailing it as well!

DL – I’ve got the same problem, my Mother bought this used on ebay for our youngest daughter. We have the CD, but no serial number on anything that we were given.

I’m on the hunt for a serial number.

I lost the FP3 software recently… I downloaded the FP3 software from the Mattel support website (Thanks, Kelly!!)… Now my problem is the serial number that you need to complete the software installation! I bought this gadget over a year ago, so I do not have the box for reference. Does anyone know where to obtain the serial number?

Angelique – you will need to call them and go through the reformat steps. This thing is VERY nitpicky about being removed correctly from the computer. You MUST choose to disconnect the hardware via the “Safely Remove Hardware” option. You can then reload the songs from the FP3 player software.

My comment is similiar to the others except for the main problem is that once I got everything loaded on the device, it starts to play then it starts this really loud static noise… Does anyone know what that could be? When I spoke to Fisher Price they said that they may be able to reformat the device? Does this sound right? I am afraid that it may make the problem worse and then I would also lose all of the music that has been downloaded on the device. Any suggestions???
