FreeBSD needs a logo
Design competitions are rarely a good thing. Those of us that have been fortunate enough were burned long ago early in our careers submitting to design competitions. Some of us will be burned later on. Some of us, such as Architects, seem inexplicably stuck in a spec-work industry. But this one I’m going to let through.
FreeBSD needs a logo. FreeBSD, if you don’t know, is an open source, UNIX-like operating system based typically used to run web servers. Whenever I bring up open source software with the more ‘visual design’ centric folks, I’m inevitably meant with a series of groans of ‘but it’s so ugly/unusable/clunky/it’s not Photoshop’ replies. Well, here’s your chance to ‘pretty up’ a small part of the growing open source world.
As a bonus, they seem to have a somewhat decent (albeit, basic) specification document and, they’re also tossing in a $500 prize.
