Go Vote! (But for who?)
It’s Tuesday. GO VOTE!
If you live in St. Paul or Minneapolis, the two big voter issues, of course, are the mayoral candidates. They’ve been on the news daily so it’s not too hard to find info on them:
Saint Paul:
Kelly…clearly going after the Irish vote.
Coleman…sticking with the tried and true (and terribly cliche) red, white, and blue.
Minneapolis:
McLaughlin…using the multi-themed collage banner.
Rybak…going with a teal theme.
But, now that I have a 4 year old about to enter the St. Paul school system, what intrigues me more is the school board candidates. I’ll just google them up…
Hmm…
Nothing.
Huh.
A little more digging…
Aha!
An election wiki!. What a great idea. Alas, only two candidates for St. Paul have actual web sites.

that is interesting. You ‘would’ think that there would have been more interest in ‘some’ form of web interaction for local voting.
I was involved in donating a website for a local candidate for a board, and the response was a very positive one.
I am wondering though, what the exact numbers of voters actually went to the web to find information on their candidates?
In marketing websites, I am still running into prospective clients that use the excuse, “oh, the web…were not interested that new internet thing. Our customers appreciate that we are more focused on them and not the internet hype thats going around”
uhm, okay.
I quess I am too close to the source to see the internet as anything ‘new’ or ‘hype’
