How to Make the Web Quieter
I’m not sure when or how it happened, but the ‘enable plugins’ checkbox in Safari got unchecked.
What does that mean? Flash doesn’t display.
I don’t come across a lot of Flash sites, so I didn’t notice it at first. Though, my web experience felt quieter.
Now if Safari had a ‘enable ads’ checkbox.

I know you’re still a die-hard Safari user, but Firefox users have been enjoying the great Flashblock plug in for some time:

It’s nice in that it blocks all flash by default, but lets you easily enable individual flash elements (useful for when you are visiting sites that have no concept of accessibility issues and decide to put their entire menu into a flash file.)
It also accomodates the sIFR techniques (which I’m slowly beginning to dislike as well…)
Even better is the adblock extension, all graphics and flash show by default, then you can choose to block what you want.

If you try the adblock plugin and you want to start out with a bunch of blocked ads you can import my adblock filter here:
