U.S. Bank is dramatically growing their User Experience team. They’re looking for 2 Information Architects, an Ethnographer, a Taxonomist, and a Section 508/Accessiblity professional.

    Taxonomist

  • Skills Wanted:
  • Taxonomy, vocabularies, ontology and metadata development.
  • Knowledge of current metadata extraction software tools, metadata modeling tools, taxonomy best practices, search logics, and of content management software tools.
  • Experience in a web development environment.
  • Work with large projects or in the financial services a plus.
  • Degree in library science or similar background preferred.
  • Responsibilities include:
  • Support other User Experience team members in implementing Search services.
  • Evangelize the user to a fault at all stages of the development process.
  • Work with the Usability Practice Lead and User Experience Manager to develop a documented enterprise Search strategy.
  • Work directly with subject matter experts to gather terminology, establish definitions and relationships, and review draft and final products.
  • Monitor consistency in Search tools across the enterprise.
  • Creation of standards manuals for various customer channels and technologies.
  • Conduct other research at the request of the User Experience Manager.
    Ethnographer

  • Skills Wanted:
  • Formal education in anthropology, sociology, psychology, rhetoric, or similar field
  • A research background with experience in developing qualitative interview guides, conducting open-ended interviews, and analyzing qualitative data including a working knowledge of statistics.
  • Experience in a web development environment, either with an agency or in-house
  • Work with other GUIs, large projects or in the financial services a plus.
  • Some experience conducting community-based research, including collaborating with community agencies in the design and implementation of research.
  • Organized, with an ability to develop tracking systems and keep records
  • Ability to work some evenings.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
  • Responsibilities include:
  • Support other User Experience team members with detailed knowledge of our users.
  • Evangelize the user to a fault at all stages of the development process.
  • Work with the Usability Practice Lead and User Experience Manager to develop a focused enterprise Ethnographic research function.
  • Conduct heuristic Ethnographic evaluations.
  • Plan, script, and manage Ethnographic tests and other research.
  • Recruit and manage relationships with test participants and community organizations.
    Acessibility/Section 508 Specialist

  • Skills Wanted:
  • Work experience in a formal Usability or Accessibility test environment.
  • Experience in a web development environment, either with an agency or in-house.
  • Work with other GUIs, large projects or in the financial services a plus.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and proficiency interpreting Section 508 and W3C WCAG.
  • Familiarity with assititive technologies, such as JAWS.
  • Responsibilities Include:
  • Act as the User Experience representative for Accessibility on internal project teams.
  • Evangelize the user to a fault at all stages of the development process.
  • Work with the Usability Practice Lead and User Experience Manager to develop a documented enterprise Accessibility strategy.
  • Creation of Accessibility standards manuals for various customer channels and technologies.
  • Conduct heuristic Accessibility evaluations.
  • Plan, script, and manage Accessibility tests and other research.
  • Recruit and manage relationships with expert users of assistive technologies.
    Lead Information Architect

  • Skills Wanted:
  • 4+ years of work experience, including at least two years as an Information Architect
  • Two or more years of experience in a web development environment, either with an agency or in-house.
  • Experience working with large sites or in the financial services industry is a plus.
  • Proven ability to coordinate the work of peers on large projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and proficiency in leveraging an industry-standard development methodology, such as the Rational Unified Process.
  • Ability to mentor/coach less experienced Information Architects
  • Experience working with strategists and business analysts to translate business requirements and use cases into value-added deliverables for developers.
  • Candidate should be competent in the software tools of his/her trade. (e.g., ClearCase, ClearQuest, Requsite Pro, Photoshop, Visio, Homesite, etc.)
  • Experience with content management systems such as Vignette, Interwoven, Broadvision or OpenMarket is a plus.
  • Responsibilities Include:
  • Act as the user experience lead on internal project teams, with responsibility for ensuring projects meets U.S. Bancorp’s enterprise standards while satisfying user desires.
  • Evangelize the user to a fault at all stages of the development process.
  • Lead by example with the use of U.S. Bancorp’s process and development methodologies.
  • Plan, script, and manage usability tests and other research.
  • Distill collected business/content requirements into focused, understandable and actionable deliverables (user assessments, navigation diagrams, page types, site maps, wireframes, etc.).
  • Assist in the ongoing definition of U.S. Bancorp’s evolving user experience standards.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and partners.
    Information Architect

  • Skills Wanted:
  • 2+ years of work experience, including at least one year as an Information Architect
  • Two or more years of experience in a web development environment, either with an agency or in-house.
  • Experience working with large sites or in the financial services industry is a plus.
