Some quick odds and ends I’ve come across this week:

What to do with skip links

Hickdesign has done a commendable job of creating a very visually pleasing, unobtrusive, yet easily findable ‘skip to content’ link on his page design. It seems like a simple thing, but you rarely see it, and the debate on what do with skip links has been going on for a while. Nice solution, Jon.

Lots of free music

SXSW is going on. Can’t make it? Well, listen to 2.6 gigs of music from featured artists. SXSW has put a Bittorrent of 750 songs together for your downloading and iPoding pleasure.

An actual reason to upgrade Windows?

Poynter.org (a great site I just discovered) reports on Microsoft’s new set of typefaces that will be released bundled in upcoming Windows releases. These are new ClearType faces designed by the likes of Lucas de Groot and John Hudson. It appears that these will *not* be ‘free’ fonts as the original set of MS Web fonts were…which is a bit of a bummer for web developers, but it’s nice to see some great typography hit the Windows desktops.
