Shop Locally. But where?
KwanzaHanukkahMas is pounding at my door. Must get gifts. Sigh.
Might as well make the best of it. One great thing to do is to shop locally. Helps the local economy, often leads to some unique finds, and lets you avoid the massive headaches of the strip malls in December.
There’s going to be a craft show this weekend in North Minneapolis. I know, I know…the dreaded *craft* word. But the No Coast Craft-O-Rama is putting a different spin on it. No toaster cozies. No hand knit mittens. But, rather, some trendy and hip art and accessory products made by local artists.
Where’s your favorite local gift source in the Twin Cities?

Lake Country School Art and Craft fair this Saturday, December 3. 10am – 4pm, 3755 Pleasant Avenue South in Minneapolis.
There’s the Art Major – in the old Paper Source space, I’ve heard they sell original student artwork.
On a related note, I’m compiling a list of CDs that support good, local, and independent causes over on my other blog
Robot Love.
Located on Lyndale in Uptown (I believe the mid twenties block), right next door to the Highpoint Center for Printmaking.

Right – there’s also some great stuff at the MN Book Arts.
I’m especially noting this as I am now in the market to furnish/decorate a new apt.
Saver’s on Maryland and 35e, great for festivus!
So, we went to the craft show. I’ve never taken the scenic route through St. Anthony. Nice area.
Alas, we only stayed at the show for a total of maybe 2 minutes. 2 parents taking 2 kids into a room clearly designed to hold perhaps a 4th of the number of people in it just wasn’t going to work. So, it appears it was a success, but they’re going to have to find a bigger venue next year.
