The ‘real’ Food Pyramid
Last week, our fine government introduced us to the new $2.5 million dollar (that’s right, 2.5 MILLION dollars) food pyramid. (a nice analysis on SpeakUp.) It’s a stunning piece of bad design. Clip art mixed with a variety of Tufte’s ‘do not do this’ examples.
And, of course, the data is shaped more by the agricutural industry rather than hard science. What the government calls MyPyramid has quickly become the McPyramid as experts point out the biased message.
Fortunately, thanks to the internet, in a matter of a few days, someone can improve upon what’s out there. Introducing MyPyramid.org which more accurately shows the pyramid as being more healthful for agribusiness than your own body.
