The Right Idea with the Wrong Acronym

The Saturday Morning cartoons I grew up with were full of good and evil, black and white teams battling for control of the universe. It seemed the “evil” team’s name was always a nefarious acronym. In G.I. Joe, it was COBRA filled with Battle Android Troopers (BATS). In M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) the evil-doers were V.E.N.O.M. (Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem).

At a young age, I learned two things from watching these programs:

  1. Acronyms can tell you who the bad guys are.
  2. The group with the nefarious acronym never wins.

You can understand my disappointment when I received an email from the Minnesota Environmental Action Network.
