The Search for the perfect Internet TV box, Part II
As I continue to casually look for that perfect way to get internet TV onto my (yet to be purchased) new TV, I find that there is a lot of complexity out there.
From what I can tell, the only semi-sane way is to bow down to Redmond and get a Windows Media Center PC and an Xbox or two. After my 2-week fight with a virus on my XP box, I’m hesitant to invest in much more Windows-based hardware, unfortunately.
The PS3 appears to be a possible contender…especially given that it is still the cheapest way to easily play Blue Ray disks onto your TV. Recently, I ran across an announcement of a DVR attachment coming–but no idea of any availability in the US market. Still, that’s a step in the right direction.
I then stumbled upon a post on how to get ANY streaming video to play on your PS3. That has potential! Except that as it states “this isn’t an easy install and click solution…not for the faint of heart.”
Oh well.
Still on the hunt…
