Twin Cities IA Meetup – Tues Nov 6, 5pm The Local – Social Networks

This month’s topic at for the IA meetup at The Local is social networks with special guests Bruno Borzstein from Curbly.com, Jon Dahl from Slantwise Design – developer of fanchatter.com among others -, and Katie Ware.

Just in time for our conversation, Google announced their Open Social project and the Facebook backlash begins

“I think Facebook is moving away from their efficient design and starting to get caught up in the short-term page view trap….If you want to build the best social network out there make it the easiest to use with the least page view refreshes. Please God.” – Jason Calacanis

At this point, I believe Facebook is more interested in building a highly-targeted ad delivery silo, and is less interested in connecting people.
