What a great idea. And a great name as well!
I’m fairly certain that the key to independant wealth via product design is not to invent the next Segway or iPod or Flying Car but rather to simply improve that one thing that everyone on the planet already uses. It also helps if that ‘one thing’ has a hefty markup.
The latest “why didn’t I think of that” product idea is the Powersquid, a power bar/surge protector:

And, at $50 a pop, you know they’re making a nice profit as well.
Also worth mentioning: The 360 degree rotating electrical outlet.

I agree- Everytime this thing shows up on a webpage, you always get a heated debate about the design of plugs and outlets and why they are designed the way they are. Lot’s of “why can’t they just…” type of posts that really show that consumers really want a solution to the power strip frustration. I will say that a significant reason that I would consider getting an iMac would be because of cord management.
