Where is the Experience Economy
So, I’ve heard this called the experience economy… I’m not so sure about that. I mean, what is the experience I supposed to be having here?….Can someone give me a really good example of a great experience?
Jon Strande over at Business Evolutionist asked this question in his recent post.
The answer is constantly shifting - lately, I’ve had enjoyable experiences at Potbellys. And the service at the Target stores I frequent seems to be ever increasing.
Where do you see this “experience economy” thing being taken seriously?

My experience at Chapters and Indigo have declined in quality over the past 6 months let alone a year. Prior to this, it had exceptional customer service but now it seems to have almost gone to the dogs.
Gotta agree with Jon. A lot of this ‘experience economy’ seems to be hype to hide the fact that we’ve had really crappy service lately. They can now bring back regular old ‘decent service’ and make us think it’s the latest/greatest.
I honestly can’t think of any great above-and-beyond experiences lately.
